Announcing Foróige at the Irish Immigration Center

What is Foróige?

Foróige is the leading youth organization in Ireland and has been working with young people since 1952. The purpose is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their development and in the development of society. The club is youth driven with support from adult leaders.

Here at the Irish Immigration Center we are delighted to announce the first International Foróige club. We are aiming to create a fun and safe environment for the local youth where they can be part of a club and express their ideas and grow to be strong members of our community.

Foróige Clubs are a safe place for young people to hang out, meet new friends and have a voice. What makes a Foróige Club different to other youth clubs is that the young people run it themselves with adult support. This allows them to believe in themselves, make decisions and practice leadership. ForóigeClubs generally meet one night a week. The club night begins with a formal meeting, led by a committee of young people. Then members decide if they want to work on a project or just hang out with their friends, enjoying games or activities.

Foróige at the Irish Immigration Center will focus providing youth with a program that foster a sense of Irish community and identity while making new friends and learning new skills.
