Foróige Youth Club
When? Every Tuesday at 7p.m.
Who? Teenagers between 13-18 years old.
What? Foróige is the leading youth organization in Ireland. Since 1952 it has been working to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of society.
Here at the Irish Immigration Center we started the first International Foróige club. Foróige Clubs are a safe place for young people to hang out, meet new friends and have a voice. What makes a Foróige Club different to other youth clubs is that the young people run it themselves with adult support. This allows them to believe in themselves, make decisions and practice leadership. Foróige Clubs generally meet every Tuesday night at 7p.m. The club night begins with a formal meeting, led by a committee of young people. Then members decide if they want to work on a project or just hang out with their friends, enjoying games or activities.
Foróige at the Irish Immigration Center focuses on providing youth with a program that fosters a sense of Irish community and identity while making new friends and learning new skills.
